In this episode of The Light Seekers’ Lounge, I’m joined by functional medicine practitioner and co-author of Ending Body Burnout, Filipa Bellette.
After years of chronic health symptoms — and doing all the “right” things to recover — Filipa discovered something unexpected sitting underneath it all: a hidden belief she’d carried since childhood that she was weak and incapable.
When she began to gently flip the script on that belief, everything started to change. Her symptoms eased. Her nervous system settled. And her relationship with work, money, and life shifted in powerful ways.
In this conversation, we explore what body burnout really is, why strategy alone doesn’t always create healing, and how identity-level beliefs can quietly shape the way we live, lead, and care for ourselves.
If you’ve been holding everything together for everyone else, but your body has been asking for something different, this episode may offer a new perspective.
In this episode, we talk about:
- Why doing all the “right” health things doesn’t always lead to recovery, and how hidden subconscious beliefs can quietly keep your body stuck in protective survival patterns even when your lifestyle looks supportive on the outside
- How identity-level beliefs shape your nervous system and physical wellbeing, especially the powerful role early experiences can play in creating internal stories that influence how safe your body feels to rest, heal and thrive
- The connection between perfectionism, money stress and chronic symptoms and why many women in business carry invisible pressure that keeps them operating in overdrive without even realising it
- How uncovering one core belief changed Filipa’s health, confidence and direction in business and what became possible when she stopped pushing harder and started working with her body instead of against it
- Gentle ways to begin rewriting old internal stories so healing can happen more naturally, including simple mindset shifts and reflective questions you can start exploring in your own life
